Tasmanian
Police Headquarters HVAC Instalation
The
Hobart Police Head Quarters was built in two main stages.
The first stage was the Support Services Building located
in Bathurst Street and stage two, the City Police Station
in Liverpoll Street.
TCM
Pty Ltd was the successful mechanical services and DDC
Controls/Building Management contractor for both projects.
The
mechanical services comprises floor by floor central
air handling plant with Variable Air Volume (VAV) units
handling the specific load requirements of each zone,
with electric reheats installed where necessary. Heating
and cooling for both buildings is provided under the
control of a TC Technologies DDC control system. The
DDC and Building Management controls are very extensive,
and can be monitored at an on-site workstation or through
a dial-up connection from the TCM offices. The DDC control
system allows operators to monitor and interogate the
performance of individual plant within either building
and make any necessary changes.
The
main plant for the Support Services Building consists
of a series of roof mounted air chillers which provide
the chilled water supply, with two Luke 160kW machines
providing the heating requirements of the HVAC system.
The City Police Station HVAC system is satisfied by
a 400kW Multistack Chiller.
The
Tasmanian Police Headquarters project was completed
in the early 1990's.
